Isn't Going to the YMCA Supposed to Help You Stay Alive?
Tom takes Craig to the Y a couple of times a week to lift weights as part of his physical therapy. Craig has his learner's permit now so we've been trying to have him drive everywhere so he can get lots of practice, but last night Tom forgot or Craig didn't want to or I don't know what the reason was, but it turned out to be a good thing. To get to our YMCA, you turn off a busy street onto a side street that is one lane in each direction, split by a median. Tom and Craig were coming home when they saw headlights coming at them. Someone had turned onto the wrong side of the road and hadn't realized it. Tom swerved up onto the grass and the guy went by. He apparently then realized something was wrong because when Tom looked in the rear-view mirror, the guy had stopped. Fortunately Tom was driving and instinct took over.
